In anticipation of this little guy's first year on the planet, we took a stroll around Ballard to capture some portraits and casual family shots. Nolan's aunt is my old roommate (and current coworker) Jen, and this photo shoot was a gift for her sister and brother-in-law. Not bad work for my second-ever family shoot!
Family shoot at Golden Gardens: Wyatt & Lila
My friend Grant contacted me recently to set up a photoshoot for his sweet, growing family. We decided to meet at Golden Gardens where he and and his wife Shannon were married, for a few hours' worth of candids and a nice dose of end-of-summer sunshine to chase the kids around in.
Portrait session: Jamie Aaron
It's always such an honor when fellow creative pals trust you with a photoshoot: my friend Jamie Aaron makes amazing music, and hired me to do some portraits for her upcoming project. It was an absolute honor and a pleasure to work with her, and we wound up getting some really great shots she used for her album's release and new website.
I took this image at the end of our shoot, after I'd fulfilled all the requirements -- I couldn't resist the natural light coming through the window of the loft, and it wound up being one of my personal favorites from the day. A good reminder to always trust my instincts, and to make the photos I see in my head whenever possible.
Maui wedding: Adam and Elaine
The first, and best, away-game wedding I've ever head the pleasure to witness. The celebration took place about two-thirds through a week-long vacation on Maui, amidst a slew of family dinners, outings for shaved ice, trips to the beach, and all-around Jurassic Park vibes.
Here are just a few of the shots from the big day(s)!
Photobooth: NYE with Lick!
Another beautiful, queer, drunken photobooth in the lounge at Chop Suey, for the New Year's Eve installment of Lick!
A quick, natural-light kitchen portrait for my apartment manager.
Seattle wedding: Casey and April
A beautiful, blustery night at the Corson Building in Seattle -- the perfect setting for a wintertime wedding. The venue was mostly candlelit, but lights from the playing field next door made for an excellent (albeit frigid) outdoor portrait.
