Road trip: Christmas in Wyoming

It's difficult to put into words just how unreal it was to be in Jackson Hole for Christmas this year. The mountains, the animals, the sheer scale of the wide-open-ness, all folded together with meeting most of Barry's family for the first time -- it was an absolute postcard holiday, a dozen different kinds of snowy and warm-hearted and perfect.

I could write a whole gushy, emotional post about all the feelings and the family dinners, and the way the air was, and how quiet it was at night, and how much I adore the pretty little turquoise ring I picked up to remember the trip by. I probably will at some point, but until then, here are my favorite shots from those few freezing, beautiful days:

Baby's first trip to Detroit

I'd been threatening to visit Detroit ever since one of my best friends moved out there a few years back, to be with the man who wound up being the absolute love of her life. I expected to spend most of the time gaping at what are now deemed modern-day ruins, but instead spent my time sightseeing, experiencing the personalities of different neighborhoods, eating out at incredible restaurants, and taking in the sights.

If I can say one thing about the trip, aside from an amazing reconnection with a bestie, it's that the sense of community that's driving the rebirth of this city is nothing short of amazing. Those ruins? I mean, we've all seen Detropia, but there's so much more to the city than that. History, art, and an honest-to-goodness sense of togetherness prevail to bring beauty to a place that, at times, is only showcased as a burned-out warzone.

Maui wedding: Adam and Elaine

The first, and best, away-game wedding I've ever head the pleasure to witness. The celebration took place about two-thirds through a week-long vacation on Maui, amidst a slew of family dinners, outings for shaved ice, trips to the beach, and all-around Jurassic Park vibes.

Here are just a few of the shots from the big day(s)!
