Capitol Hill Art Walk, July edition
Many thanks to my friend Jeanine, who saw my pay-what-you-can post on Facebook + brought me on to shoot this month's art walk!
It was a bit of a light evening attendance-wise, but the lack of crowds allowed me to wander around and get in some quality time talking with the vendors and artists set up around the Hill. Most notably, John Criscitello, whose studio I found quite by accident (and almost didn't notice at all) walking over to an exhibit at the 12th Avenue Arts building (which I never made it to -- sorry Jeanine!!).
The neighborhood certainly has changed, but the forty-five minutes I spent in John's basement gave me hope for the undercurrent of this city, the grit and dirt that's becoming increasingly hard to find among all the Neu Seattle shine. Speaking of: see more of that grit / presence / amazingness at his upcoming show at 4Culture, opening Thursday, September 7th.
